For over 50 years, Ms Birdie has made it her objective to not just observe politics, but to actively direct them.
This statement by Elizabeth Pridgeon (author of this article) made us wonder what does it take to take to create a mindset that mimics “Ms. Birdies”. What can be done to motivate the youths of Belize City and moreso Belize to take part in politics. Just as our beloved Garifuna community fought europeans.
What can be done to take that fight to the political level in a mutually respectful way. Just because a “first world” country does something one way does not make it the best. How can what motivates Ms. Birdie be infused into the youth? A restaurant in her name that infuses her idioms and positive quotes? What?
