BK International gets $138M contract again for Supenaam stelling…plus $240m for Parika stelling. Just under two years after the Ministry of Works was up in arms against BK International for what it called work of a poor quality on the Supenaam Ferry Stelling, the very Ministry awarded another contract for works on the same stelling. The Ministry also included works on the Parika stelling. – Kaieteur News Online

From reading the article BK International made some mistakes under the first contract for the Supenaam stelling which cost our blessed Guyana too much money. Now they are coming back to make the repairs and being paid again! You would think that since the first stelling sank when tested that under contract BK International would have to fix the stelling at no cost to the owner since they performed the work.

Nonetheless, BK International is linked to China which has taken an interest in Guyana and a larger interest in Africa so maybe there is more to it than what we see here. Just the same, hopefully in the future more companies will become available to be able to provide services like these locally for Guyana and at a lower price so more money can go to education.
