Donors Wednesday pledged approximately USD $10 million in support of the Kenyan Government’s appeal to save the vital Mau Forest Complex, at a Partners Forum convened by the Kenyan Government and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). – KenviroNews

Upon reading the article, it seems we are running to the west and european countries to obtain money to reach our $100 million dollar goal. This news was reported a year ago and we plan to issue some update to see how the pilot program that the united states is implementing will work.

A few questions though, how is it that we can not generate the money ourselves being the global majority a lot of melanin efficient countries have the capital that we are looking for. Does the united states run to Kenya when they have an environment issue? No. So with our educational system why don’t we solve the problem ourselves.  And on another note, a pilot program is an experimental program that has not  been implemented anywhere else. Why not a tried and true solution?

Just found this article regarding the 2012 elections and kenya and the role big (more than likely) foreign corporations play in destroying the Mau Forest

However, over the last 20 years, illegal squatters and big corporations have cut down more than a quarter of the Mau’s green canopy. – Jazeera
